Packing & unpacking
Packing is the part of moving that takes the longest and causes the most breakage. Hand us all of it, or just the kitchen and the fragile pieces.
Full or partial packing
Full packing means our crew packs everything, usually the day before the move or the morning of for smaller homes. You don't touch a box.
Partial packing is the most popular option: you pack clothes, books and the everyday things, and we pack the kitchen, glassware, framed art, lamps and anything fragile. It's where professional packing makes the biggest difference.
How we pack
- Dishes and glasses wrapped individually and packed on edge in sturdy boxes
- Framed art and mirrors protected with padding and corner protection
- Lamps, decor and electronics packed with enough padding to stop movement
- Every box labeled with the room and a short list of contents
- Boxes marked "fragile" and "this side up" where it matters
Unpacking
We can also unpack at the new place: empty the boxes, put kitchen items on counters or in cabinets, and take away the packing paper so you aren't living out of boxes for weeks.
Packing it yourself? A few tips
- Use small boxes for heavy things (books, tools) and big boxes for light things (bedding, pillows).
- Fill gaps with paper or towels. Items that move inside a box break.
- Tape the bottom of every box with an "H" pattern.
- Pack a separate box of first-night essentials and keep it with you.
Packing is often combined with home moves and apartment moves. Just mark "packing help" on the estimate form.
Common questions
When do you pack, the same day as the move?
For studios and one-bedroom homes we can often pack the morning of the move. Larger homes are usually packed the day before so moving day stays on schedule.
Can you pack only the kitchen and fragile items?
Yes. Partial packing is common, and the kitchen is the room most people hand over to us.
